Big Island + Oahu 2019-02-14T13:28:35-08:00

Project Description

April 22, 2018

I met Jessica through my friend, Serena.  Since meeting, we all became friends!  Serena shared with me that Jessica wanted to celebrate her birthday in Hawaii.  We decided to explore Big Island and Oahu for Jessica’s birthday!

Big Island

We landed in Hilo and prior to checking into Airbnb in Kona, we decided to check out a coffee plantation:  Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation.  Our first choice was Kuaiwi Farm; however, we did not book a reservation and were afraid that we would not be able to get in!  Afterwards, we took the scenic route, driving towards Kona.  On our drive, I noticed this beautiful waterfall and had to capture a photograph of it!

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park – home to two of the most active volcanoes on earth, including Kilauea

When we were visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, we could see glimpses of lava.  However, when we left, a week later, the volcano became active and lava was erupting rapidly, potentially reshaping the island.

Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens – one of the most beautiful botanical gardens, inclusive of short hikes and ocean views

Waipio Valley – also known as curved water

CLIMB Works Keana Farms – Zipline Tour

Honolulu’s ziplining experience supersedes the ziplining experience in Australia

Prior to our ziplining experience, we ate at the famous Kahuku Shrimp Truck!  The food was AMAZING!

Kualoa Ranch – 4000 acre private nature and popular film set location such as Jurassic World, 50 First Dates, etc

We booked the Jungle Jeep Expedition tour, which allowed us to overlook Oahu’s coastline, see Moli’i Pond, and see famous movie site locations!

Reflections

I haven’t travelled with people in awhile, and this was one of my first trips in which I decided to do so!  It was a fun experience!

Where have I traveled in the United States?
