Project Description

January 17, 2017

Even though, I’ve traveled quite extensively even after my trip to Australia, I was having the itch to travel again but alone.  My last few trips after Australia were trips I planned to either spend time with my friends or family.  I wanted this trip to serve as a time for me to reflect and relax about the New Year and for turning another year older.  I was bold in thinking that I could combine this weekend trip with visiting both Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park.  However, this did not happen, but I still enjoyed myself.

Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage

My favorite part about the Ritz Carlton was that my room was closest to the private adult pool area.  I enjoyed taking a morning dip before I started my day.  Surprisingly, I was able to book a reservation with a great rate – perks of checking out online deals.

That Pink Door

Everyone talked about this infamous pink door, which is why I had to see it in person myself.  Check out their instagram

Mecca Hills – Painted Canyon

I met some fellow hikers who introduced me to this map.  With only having two hours left until the sunset, I got lost and met a family of hikers along the way.  It was worth the two hours!

Palm Canyon

This hike reminded me a lot of Florida.  Although it was a strange combination:  a desert filled with palm trees.

There were various hikes within Palm Canyon, and the hikes were worth the view!

Reflections

Living in California for the past couple of years, I’ve learned that even within a state or city, there is so much more to explore.  I believe in revisiting old places because I know I’ll find some place new to explore even within a city.  Palm Springs is definitely one of those cities that you will have to continuously come back.  I hope to include Joshua Tree National Park next time I visit Palm Springs again.

Where have I traveled in the United States?
